Willsbro Angus

Willsbro Angus is owned by Phillip & Wendy Morton, located at Cassilis in the Upper Hunter Valley of New South Wales, Australia.

Willsbro Angus was established at Rollands Plains on the Mid North Coast of NSW in 1986 with proven female lines from leading herds in Australia and New Zealand. Bulls and semen from the USA were imported, and with the assistance of Embryo Transfer the herd quickly grew to over 100 herdbook registered females. 1996 saw a Total Female Sale to dissolve a partnership between the Lahey & Morton families. Phil and Wendy retained the name "Willsbro" and continued trading on a much reduced scale. The stud has grown again through the addition of cows from strong, proven female lines and the use of internationally renown sires. Embryos from our elite cows are a major part of our breeding program.

Willsbro Angus cattle are bred for structural soundness, fertility and calving ease, good milking and growth abilities, with the added bonus of carcase quality. Whilst we do not get caught up in all the EBV hype, we realise the significance of EBVs and therefore strive for balance across all traits. Blending the legendary bloodlines of Traveler, Massive and Rito, we produce cattle that are proven to perform in the show ring and in the paddock. Some of the major achievements include:

Willsbro Angus in 2004 has seen some exciting new additions, including the birth of calves using semen imported from the USA under an exclusive agreement. Linebred to one of the most influential sires in the history of the breed, our exclusive bull is very unique to the bloodlines currently being used in Australia. We expect him to become a very popular choice over all types of cows. The year 2005 will see the birth of calves imported as embryos from the USA, the donor dams of these embryos are closely related to the uniquely bred bull mentioned above.
